2. Krusty And Homer Were Meant To Be The Same Person

Another one of Springfield’s beloved inhabitants is Krusty the Clown, the famous clown and star of the popular Krusty the Clown show, of which Bart and Lisa are huge fans.

And, if you closely, you will notice that Krusty looks remarkably similar to Homer (they have essentially the same design - Homer is just missing Krusty’s clown make-up and blue hair). This was because when the show began, the writers had an idea of revealing that Krusty was Homer all along, leading to Bart discovering that his biggest idol (Krusty) is actually the person he has the least amount of respect for (Homer).

However, the writers thought it was too complicated of an idea for the audience to grasp, especially so early in the show. Therefore, the idea was scrapped.

That being said, the resemblance between Krusty and Homer has been referenced numerous times on the show, including the season 6 episode in which Homer impersonates Krusty while attempting to pursue a career as a clown.

Also, in the two-part episode, “Who Shot Mr. Burns?", you will notice that Krusty looks a lot more like Homer here (he lacks Krusty’s circles beneath the eyes, and has a more circular mouth), and many fans have speculated that Homer disguised himself as Krusty to get away with Burns's shooting.

However, writer for the show, Bill Oakley has called this an animation error, and a leak of the original script revealed that Homer was categorically not meant to feature in this scene.
