10 Simpsons Theories That Make Too Much Sense To Ignore
1. The Perfect Ending
After 30 plus years, and possibly even reaching 40 by the time Disney finally pull the plug, ending The Simpsons is going to be a tough ask. How can the writers end the show that has been such a pop culture icon through the years in a satisfying way? The Simpsons simply can't be allowed to limp over the line. There is one method that has been theorised, and it's not overstating it to say that this ending would be absolutely perfect.
When it is revealed that Itchy and Scratchy is ending, the show runs a competition where one lucky fan can write the final episode. On air, Krusty reveals that the four finalists are Homer, Marge, Bart, and Lisa, with the winner being revealed when the finale actually airs.
The rest of the episode sees Homer explain to Lenny and Carl his idea at work, Marge to Helen Lovejoy at the supermarket, and Bart and Lisa to Milhouse and Janey at school. Later, while Homer is working, Marge is at the checkout, Bart is in detention writing lines, and Lisa is at band practice, they all realise the time and drop everything, rushing home to find out whose episode would be on TV.
The final ever scene we see of The Simpsons would be the very opening sequence we have seen over 600 times before, only with it finally being given a meaning. The show would end forever with the family reaching the sofa one last time, taking a simultaneous intake of breath as the iconic Itchy and Scratchy theme song plays.
