10 Smartest Brooklyn Nine-Nine Characters

3. Jake

With the exception of Doug Judy - who would be best described as Jake's kryptonite - there are few characters in the show that can get one over on Detective Peralta. While he can be incredibly goofy and immature, when the time calls for it he can be the most devoted professional in the room.

From the show's pilot, Jake has solidified his status as one of the best detectives the 99th precinct has to offer. He is ridiculously cocky, claiming to be Detective Right-All-The-Time, but can actually back such a claim up, ultimately making more arrests than Amy and winning their bet, and being crowned the first Ultimate Detective/Genius.

Despite hitting some slumps throughout his career, Jake has always come out the other side, and can close a case like few others. Not only did he strive all night to get Philip Davidson to break, he managed to solve the notoriously unsolvable case 52ABX-32QJ that had been cold for eight years, and his fresh perspective helped Amy's father solve a case that had alluded him for twenty years.

He was already an outstanding police officer before Captain Holt's arrival, but under the leadership of his new commanding officer, Jake has only gone from strength to strength, learning much and more.
