10 Star Trek Burns That Still Sting

1. Is That How You Greet Your Long-Lost Captain?

Star Trek Captain Killy

Star Trek: Discovery's first season is a fairly mixed bag of material as the show attempted to find its footing, which is a sentence that's fun for all the right reasons. The trip to the Mirror Universe halfway through the season was a gamble that paid off, moved the story forward and allowed the crew to expand from some of the admittedly thinly written roles they had started in.

No one benefits more from this than Mary Wiseman. Sylvia Tilly is now a wonderful character, yet in the first season, she hadn't yet developed enough for some of her quirks to be as endearing. However, the impersonation of her mirror self, Captain Killy, is absolutely brilliant.

When the Discovery transports over and becomes the ISS Discovery, they hail the ISS Shenzhou, commanded by Captain Connor. In this universe, Burnham has been killed so they must play on the idea that Burnham-Prime is the real deal and that her death had been faked. Connor is very obviously startled to see her again, cagily responding that he won't be rushing to return her ship to her. Out of nowhere, Tilly pipes up:

Is that how you greet your long-lost Captain? If you greeted me that way, Connor, I'd cut out your tongue and use it to lick my boots.

The man is instantly cowed and the audience sits in awe.
