10 Star Trek Episodes They Should Have Made (It's Never Too Late)

3. Sito Jaxa’s Final Mission

From one tragedy to another, Sito Jaxa's story is one of the most moving redemption arcs in Star Trek. Given a second chance by Picard after her near disgrace at the Academy, Sito arrived on the Enterprise with a lot to prove. And to all intents and purposes, she seems to be thriving in the episode Lower Decks.

But then Sito is asked to take on a fateful mission, posing as a prisoner to help a Cardassian informant return home. And with the same courage she used to stand up to both Worf and Picard, she volunteers. Picard waits, and waits, for her return, but only debris is discovered. Finally, a report is intercepted that claims a Bajoran prisoner was killed trying to escape.

In an ideal world, Lower Decks would have been a two-parter, the second episode focusing on Sito's mission. They could have made an entire thriller out of the covert operation itself rather than make us wait with Picard for news.

However, because it's not healthy for us to always get what we want, we'll have to settle for a retrospective fix. Any new series that might launch in the Star Trek: Picard era could easily pick this up. Bring Sito back and show us the escapade from her point of view in a captivating flashback, complete with the revelation that reports of her death had been greatly exaggerated.

Because we still refuse to believe that her story ended with a bit of debris and some sus report. In the words of our very own Seán Ferrick: no body, no death. And we're sticking to it.
