Giphy1 Gif Hit animation The Simpsons is best known for its dysfunctional family Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie, but it isn't just these five that make the show as popular as it is today. Literally hundreds of other characters make up the comedy, from school teachers, bar dwellers, schoolyard bullies and even mob bosses and attempted serial killers. Voice actors Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, Yeardley Smith, Hank Azaria and Harry Shearer lend words to most of these, but Springfield has also been frequently blessed by celebrity guest appearances throughout its two-decade-long run. Some of the most famous stars from the world of music, film and television have appeared on The Simpsons over the years, whether in a recurring role afforded to such stars as Phil Hartman, George Takei and Kelsey Grammer, or a one-off. The likes of Mel Gibson, Ron Howard, Stephen King, J.K Rowling, Bryan Cranston and countless-hundreds more celebrities have taken time out from their busy schedules to appear in episodes in recent times, to give the FOX animation that bit of extra stardust. But what about the ones who turned The Simpsons down?
