10 Terrible Episodes That Almost Ruined Great TV Shows

4. Doctor Who: Love And Monsters

The Simpsons Worst Episode Ever
BBC

Doctor Who has a number of subpar episodes, but Love and Monsters has got to be the worst of the modern series. For one, the Doctor is barely even in the episode, appearing briefly at the beginning and then not showing up until 36 minutes in. That worked with episodes like Blink because that was an interesting storyline with interesting characters, but Love and Monsters is no Blink.

The whole episode revolves around a new character, Elton Pope, who is obsessed with the Doctor and part of a group who has had strange encounters with him. The character is not particularly memorable, and for most of the episode, we follow him trying to find out more about the Doctor, like by trying to get close to Rose’s mother.

Then out of nowhere they meet an alien named the Abzorbaloff who had been infiltrating their group, easily the absolute dumbest looking alien in the rebooted series. The monster absorbs Elton’s friend Ursula, and then the Doctor suddenly appears to defeat the creature in a very anticlimactic way.

Then at the very end, we find out that the Doctor was able to keep Ursula alive in a block of concrete. Elton still maintains a relationship with a block of concrete with Ursula’s face on it, and the two have “even got a bit of a love life.”

Oh, Jesus.
