Every Man's Dream The Simpsons
Fox

The Simpsons started out as a show about a typical American family. The stories were grounded and relatable, and may well have occurred in some form or another in the lives of many of the people watching. This didn't last too long, however, as soon the stories began getting crazier and crazier.

Homer became an astronaut, had a punch-up with a former President, and represented the USA at the Winter Olympics. Most of these were fun, but at some point a line was crossed, and it was long before Moe became best friends with a talking dish cloth.

When the family wound up with a race horse, Bart brought Furious D into the sport as a bad boy of sorts, ruffling the feathers of the jockeys before him. With the big race coming up, Homer was kidnapped by these jockeys who revealed themselves to actually be elves, and who lived in a magical dimension accessed through a tree.

Seriously, this was a story that made the final cut. Even if this was a segment of a Treehouse of Horror episode it would have been a poor one, but to make this into a regular episode seems ridiculous. The show had certainly been on a decline since the end of season eight, but for many, this was when it passed from just a dip in quality to being outright bad.
