10 Things Everyone Hates About Modern TV
1. The Awful, Awful Fans
And finally, we come to the be all and end all, the one thing that will never, ever change about TV - the fans are the worst thing about it.
Any sufficiently popular TV show is an absolute headache to discuss on social media, because the loudest voices that inevitably rise to the top are rarely the most nuanced or intelligent.
Between the obnoxious memes and over-invested fans who can't see the wood for the trees, discussing any major TV show online is an exercise in exhausting self-flagellation.
That is, how many annoying "super-fans" whose entire identity is swallowed up in Game of Thrones, Marvel, or Star Wars can you really put up with?
Reasonable dialogue isn't easy to find on the Internet in general, though you're at least a little more likely to see it in specialised forums and subreddits, - if not, you know, in person with friends - rather than the nonsense void of Twitter.
When teenage Game of Thrones cast members can't even go about their lives without getting death threats from fans, it's not merely a passionate fanbase at work but a damn toxic one.
This isn't to single out Thrones in particular, but simply that when any show becomes popular enough, it's difficult to separate the logical, good-faith debate from the impotent vitriol.
