3. He Left Drama School After Being Cast In "The Merchant Of Venice"... Opposite Al Pacino
First educated at Ashdown House School in the village of Forest Row, East Sussex, before moving to Sherborne School in Dorset, Cox decided to follow his heart and attempt to pursue a career in acting and drama by training at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. However, it was the role of "Lorenzo" in the Michael Radford-directed 2004 film "The Merchant of Venice" that prised him away from Bristol and launched him into a career in acting in the early-2000s. Based on William Shakespeare's famous play, Jeremy Irons played the title character of "Antonio" - while Al Pacino portrayed Jewish moneylender "Shylock" in the film. In fact, Cox and Pacino even struck up a friendship on set, with the latter telling the former: "You're not an actor until you've got a leather jacket." Pacino then rang him to wish him a happy 21st birthday, which Cox described as "one of the most bizarre things that has ever happened to me".
