7. An Extraterrestrial Easter
Everyone knows that a NuWho special is guaranteed to be buried among the heap of presents under the Christmas tree, but what about in the Easter bunny's basket? Planet of the Dead is certainly not the most commendable cinematic piece in Doctor Who history but you have to give it some credit for being slightly avant garde. After all, it was the first Doctor Who episode to be televised at Easter. Mind you, it is not the most festive illustration of the holiday, what with eviscerated skeletal remains, insectile aliens that were basically humanoid flies and vehement swarms of poorly designed desert-dwelling stingrays (at least, they were supposed to resemble stingrays). At the beginning of the episode (if you remember), however, the Doctor was indiscreetly smothering us in Easter cheer by munching on a golden-wrapped chocolate egg. Kudos for trying, Doctor. Then again, what more can you expect? Your choices are limited when attempting to integrate Easter and Doctor Who - either a chocolate egg or the Doctor confronting Monty Python' killer bunny. Hmm... Decisions, decisions.
