10 Things You Somehow Missed In The Office
1. Pepperoni Tony Playing The Piano
Season 7's Threat Level Midnight is one of The Office's finest episodes, depicting the long awaited screening of Michael's film.
The "spy thriller" sees Dunder Mifflin's manager stepping into the lead role of secret agent Michael Scarn, flanked by the rest of the usual faces as the supporting cast - including Dwight as robotic butler Samuel and Jim as the villainous "Goldenface".
Indeed, the episode dredges up some particularly notable familiar faces across 22 sidesplitting minutes. Melora Hardin's Jan Levinson and Rashida Jones' Karen Filippelli both make notable cameo appearances after not appearing on the show for a long time, but Threat Level Midnight also happens to features a character from seasons gone by that likely went missed by all but the most eagle eyed of fans.
In a blink-and-you'll miss it instance in the bar scene at The Funky Cat, the piano player in the shadows is none other than Tony Gardner - an employee transferred from the Stanford Branch. Gardner was fired by Michael in Season 3 after he informed him that his management style would be impossible to work under and was later remembered as "Pepperoni Tony" - oh Michael.
This was no double casting either! B.J. Novak confirmed that it was indeed Tony, rationalizing that the out of work accountant may have been "intrigued, flattered or lonely" and possibly reconsidered after an apology from Michael.
