10 TV Characters Who Would Make Great Batman Villains
1. Walter White (Breaking Bad)
Distilled to their essence, Walter White and Mr Freeze are already the same character. Once a mild-mannered and highly respected scientist, the character has fallen into ruin. Due to circumstances involving illness, they subsequently resolve to use their scientific knowledge to turn to a life of crime in order to provide for their loved ones, but soon find themselves seduced and corrupted by the thrill and riches of the criminal lifestyle.
Walter White is simply a darker and more three-dimensional take on a similar character type. Walter frequently uses his intimate knowledge of chemistry to resolve a situation or even to kill someone, much in the same way that Mr Freeze uses his knowledge of cryogenics, or a whole array of other mad scientist archetypes utilise their specialist subjects.
Walter's ability to scheme and to manipulate others is nigh-unparalleled, and all that's really keeping the character from being a supervillain already is the lack of a costume more elaborate than shades and a hat. Hell, 'The One Who Knocks' is a ready-made villainous pseudonym good enough to rival 'The Clown Prince Of Crime'.
Walter has transformed into a ruthless, cold-hearted monster by the final season of Breaking Bad, and while it was fascinating to view him as a series protagonist, the character is just dying to be the antagonist in someone else's story.
He has the scientific know-how and the unscrupulous morals to be one the greatest villains that Batman ever faced off against. Say his name. It's damn right.
