10 TV Characters Who Would Make Great Batman Villains
6. Ash Williams (Ash Vs Evil Dead)
The primary reason for arguing that Ash Williams should be a Batman villain is that he has a chainsaw for a hand. His hand is a chainsaw. That's awesome.
It's a convincing enough argument to insert him into any piece of pop culture. It gains particular relevance when it comes to Batman; one of the highlights of the TV interpretation Gotham is Butch, the goon muscle with a hammer for a hand. Butch is already plenty entertaining, so imagine how much better he'd be if his hammer-hand was a chainsaw, and he was played by Bruce Campbell
Ashy Slashy has other attributes going for him that would make him a suitable antagonist for Batman. Throughout the Evil Dead franchise, he's proven himself to be a master of that most crucial of comic book villain skills; namely, the ability to land a great pun after executing an act of violence. 'A Farewell To Arms' from Evil Dead 2 is one of the funniest dismemberment jokes ever made, and even if we stick to the TV show he still comes up with gems like "Now that's what I call cleavage!".
Watching Batman employ every combat trick in his book to beat a gun-toting, chainsaw-wielding maniac would be entertaining enough, but in many ways Ash makes a perfect foil to Bruce Wayne. He has a chiselled jawline that manages to put Batman's to shame, and darker, more obnoxious tendencies that would be fascinating to see explored more fully in the role of antagonist rather than hero.
