10 TV Characters You NEVER Thought Would Return
7. Ezra Bridger - Star Wars Rebels
When The Mandalorian came to Disney+ back in 2019, it opened all sorts of doors and created opportunities previously unavailable to the Star Wars franchise. Since the show's debut, The Clone Wars finished its run and Boba Fett returned with his own series, as did former Jedi, Ahsoka Tano.
Though it was Rosario Dawson who led the show, much of Ahsoka felt more like a live-action fifth season of Star Wars Rebels than anything else. The likes of Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and even Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker all returned, with the hunt for Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger a huge part of the story.
It was 2018, in the final episode of Rebels' fourth and final season, when Ezra Bridger sacrificed himself to rid the galaxy of Thrawn, and as the show then led into how the crew helped in the Battle of Endor, it seemed as though this chapter of Star Wars history was shut.
There had been major interest in Ahsoka returning to screens, as well as Thrawn, the Heir to the Empire that may well be the next overarching big bad of the franchise. Ezra Bridger's return, however, was far less certain in the five years before it ultimately happened.
