10 TV Characters You NEVER Thought Would Return

8. Walter White - Breaking Bad

With Walter White, Bryan Cranston portrayed arguably one of the greatest and most complex TV characters of all time. Going completely against the types of roles he had taken previously, the actor played a huge part in making Breaking Bad one of the most popular shows in the history of television.

Though the series finale put a permanent end to Heisenberg, the character has returned to the screens since. First in a flashback during El Camino, the spin-off movie that tied up Jesse's story, and then side by side once again with Aaron Paul's character in Better Call Saul.

Clearly then, Cranston hasn't been adverse to donning the iconic shades of New Mexico's drug lord again, but surely with both Breaking Bad's spin-offs ticked off the list, there would be nowhere else for him to show up, right? Wrong. How about an advert promoting anti-littering in New Mexico?

In 2024, Heisenberg could be seen rolling a barrel through the desert, as he did in the show, only to tip it upright and start filling it with rubbish, including what would appear to be his trousers from the very first episode. Walt then looked directly into the camera and told the audience to keep litter out of his territory to the unmistakable sound of the Breaking Bad theme. Such returns to the character could risk diminishing his iconic status, but somehow this hasn't happened yet with Walter White.
