10 TV Characters You NEVER Thought Would Return

Plenty have tried though very few have actually succeeded, proving that making a successful spin-off TV show is incredibly difficult. Even more so is producing something that goes on to be even better than that which it came from, but Frasier has become something of a poster child for this.

Initially debuting in Cheers, Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) frequented the titular Boston bar, and eventually headed home to Seattle for a spin-off based around his new life and getting re-acquainted with his father and brother. 11 seasons and an award count into the triple digits later, it's fair to say that Frasier was an unmitigated success.

Much like with Scrubs, the show succeeded in producing a touching and satisfying send-off, as the titular character packed up his life and headed to Chicago with his new girlfriend, Charlotte (Laura Linney). This was a strong ending, and one that seemed to wrap up the decade-plus of wacky adventures revolving around Frasier's love life.

In short, the character's story was done. It wasn't until 19 years later that he came back, freshly broken up with Charlotte, and heading back to Boston once again for what was described as being his third act. It just goes to show that even when there seems to be no discernable reason to bring a character back after a happy ending, someone will find a way.
