Classic comedy series Mystery Science Theater 3000 wasn't afraid to push boundaries and do ridiculous things, but not every crazy thing that happened in the show was mapped out in advance.

Season six's Danger!! Death Ray inevitably features the use of the titular death ray, with Tom Servo testing it out on the unsuspecting Crow T. Robot. After the blast, Crow wanders into frame and ends up laughing with Servo about the whole incident, but at this point, his head suddenly bursts into a dangerously big fire, prompting him to let out a scream of terror.

While Crow was meant to wander into the frame with his head having been damaged by the death ray, the moment where he bursts into flames was actually a total accident, but brilliantly, nobody in the scene broke character, allowing this hilarious moment of magic to end up in the final episode.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
