10 TV Shows That Are Finally Ending

7. The Crown

Billions TV
Netflix

Once upon a time, The Crown was a prestige gemstone for Netflix, with the royal drama's first four seasons receiving strong acclaim, and season four even scooping the Outstanding Drama Series Emmy award.

Yet the recent fifth season debuted to relatively lukewarm reviews from critics and fans alike, many having mixed feelings about the new casting choices and the apparent "dullness" of storylines that were getting progressively closer to the modern day.

It appeared to signal that the show had lost its lustre and was beginning to get long in the tooth, yet in the very least, the upcoming sixth season has been designed as its last, lending the show a neat three-act structure with the principal characters being recast every two seasons.

With season six expected to cover Princess Diana's (Elizabeth Debicki) death, Tony Blair's (Bertie Carvel) time as Prime Minister, and the early romance of Prince William (Ed McVey) and Kate Middleton (Meg Bellamy), there's certainly potential for it all to feel a bit too recent and well-trod for its own good.

Regardless of how The Crown bows out, it's absolutely time to take the truckload of Emmys and call it a day.
