10 TV Shows That Gave Away Spoilers Immediately

5. Tyler Dad-den - Mr. Robot

Lost John Locke Othello
USA

Before he was belting out We Will Rock You with the biggest pair of fake gnashers you will ever see in your life, Rami Malek was playing Elliot on the cyber-drama Mr. Robot.

A computer whizz with dissociative identity disorder, Elliot becomes embroiled in the plans of an anarchic hacktivist group led by the charismatic and mysterious Mr. Robot.

The hacker originally takes on the form of Elliot's deceased father, but it is revealed towards the end of season one that Elliot himself is Mr. Robot and always has been. It's not the most original twist in the world, but it's still effective.

Eagle-eyed fans could spot this from a mile away. Any time Elliot and "Mr. Robot" ever spoke to each other, they were the only ones there. Nobody else ever saw Mr. Robot, apart from the mentally disturbed protagonist.

Furthermore, creator Sam Esmail acknowledged that the story of Fight Club was a big influence on his show. What's the big twist in that movie? That the Narrator and Tyler Durden are in fact the same person.

No tech trickery was required to unlock that secret.
