10 TV Shows That Ruined Other TV Shows
3. Daredevil RUINED The Arrowverse
Small-screen superhero shows are at an all-time peak in output right now, but years before the Marvel Cinematic Universe planted its flag in a major way, there was the Arrowverse.
The CW's laudably ambitious interconnected world - comprising Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, and Batwoman - was nevertheless a wildly mixed bag both creatively and in terms of production values.
All the same, the early seasons of Arrow and The Flash in particular were warmly received, but the entire enterprise took a nasty hit once Netflix's Daredevil arrived on the scene.
Even if it wasn't enticingly set in the MCU - though, strategically, only ever hung out on the fringes of it - Daredevil was a huge breath of fresh air for superhero TV.
From its more sturdy, source-faithful storytelling to its mightier performances, bone-crunching action, and generally more mature tone, Daredevil made the Arrowverse look like kids playing dress-up.
As the Arrowverse's narrative became increasingly unwieldy and soap opera-reliant, Daredevil soared on the strength of its grittier plot and technically sublime style.
We can only hope that the upcoming Disney+ Daredevil show, Daredevil: Born Again, can get anywhere close to the Netflix series' intensity and kineticism.
