10 TV Shows That Worked Despite Their Absurd Premise

Possibly more so than ever over recent years, TV shows have found success in pointing the finger and the camera at the downfall and decay of society. However, none have done so in such a unique and dark way as Black Mirror.

The tone was set from the very first episode in which the Prime Minister of the UK is forced to have sex with a pig on live TV for the safe return of a hostage, only for the poor girl to have been released before the act even happened.

From here, each episode looked at a different version of the world, usually changed by some form of technology that drastically altered society, though of course with dark and unforeseen ramifications. Each is a new and dark spin on how society is growing and evolving, and the bleak future that may be coming, albeit somewhat exaggerated (hopefully).

Over its 22 episodes, not to mention the interactive Netflix movie Bandersnatch, Black Mirror managed to bring in a ridiculous amount of stars, from Daniel Kaluuya to Hayley Atwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Jon Hamm. From the stories to the ever-changing cast, there are no other shows quite like the anthology that is Black Mirror.
