10 TV Shows To Watch If You Love Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Almost goes without saying really.

After dumping Buffy and breaking her heart for a second time, everyone's favourite brooder moves to LA for a fresh start. What follows is a dark, often poignant drama offering even more misery tourism than Buffy season 6.

Where Buffy used its fantastical plots and settings to examine themes of growing up, Angel dives head on into the pitfalls of adulthood. Day jobs, unemployment, parenthood, crime rates, loneliness, systemic corruption and going corporate all play key parts in Angel Investigations' 5 season journey.

Initially a supernatural take on the private eye genre, Angel changes drastically with every season . While season 1's a PI thriller, season 2's a mix of doomed romance and ensemble drama, season 3's an antihero action piece, season 4's better left undiscussed and season 5's a masterful workplace dramedy. What remains constant is Angel's increasingly insane feud with the demonic Wolfram and Hart law firm.

Much like Buffy, Angel holds a sterling supporting cast. Most fascinating of all's Wesley Wyndham-Pryce, a walking punchline on Buffy who becomes a fascinatingly flawed, troublesome figure on Angel. The show's a must watch for fans of the original series.
