HBO's most recent TV masterclass, The White Lotus was created by Mike White and takes place on a tropical resort in Hawaii, where the staff and guests come to realise their idyllic surroundings are far from meets the eye.
A twisting, deceptive, unpredictable dark comedy, the series was originally billed as a miniseries before its recent renewal as an anthology taking place at different White Lotus resorts around the world.
For the first season, HBO roped in an impossibly packed cast - including Steve Zahn, Jennifer Coolidge, Connie Britton and Alexandra Daddario - to tell a story about devastating secrets, personal tragedy and romantic drama that is as dark as it is hilarious, and as flawlessly written as it is gorgeously filmed.
