Succession is one of those rare shows that constantly finds a way to outdo itself. A darkly satirical drama about the wildly dysfunctional Roy family and their individual attempts to take control of the family's media company, it's yet to air a bad episode, and seems to get better with every twist.
Starring the likes of Brian Cox, Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin and Jeremy Strong, the drama is an actor's paradise, anchored by its impeccable performances and multi-layered characters who could easily be seen as cartoonish and melodramatic were it not for the actors and the tight, gritty writing guiding them forward.
As is typical of a HBO production, Succession is character-driven drama at its finest, compulsively watchable despite its heavy themes of greed and power, and unpredictably twisting without pushing its family feud premise too far.
It's third season is close to being released, and given the cliffhanger ending of its predecessor, it promises to be an absolute scorcher you're going to want to see.
