10 TV Shows You Should NEVER Watch Alone

5. Bates Motel

American Horror Story
A&E

The undisputed king of psychological thrillers and understated horror is Alfred Hitchcock. His greatest masterpiece, or at least his most famous, is Psycho, which serves as the basis for Bates Motel. A modern prequel to Psycho, it tells the story of a young Norman Bates and his mother Norma as they operate a motel after the death of Norman's father.

The series shows viewers the growth of a killer as his mental illness worsens, and he moves closer and closer to his destiny. The final season is a loose adaptation of Hitchcock's film, a place viewers knew Norman would end up in.

Bates Motel was an incredible series filled with tension and highly menacing moments. It was a worthy take on the king's work.
