7. Why Does Everyone Randomly Hate On Jim?

Charles Miner comes in with a predetermined hatred of the young salesman simply because he showed up one day wearing a tuxedo. What about his work performance? Sure, there are a few ill-timed moments that make Jim appear as though he's slacking on the job, but we've been told consistently that his sales numbers are as good or better than his coworkers. So does Charles just hate left-field classiness that much? Then there's anytime Jim's put in charge of something in Michael's absence. His idea to combine several of the employees' birthday parties into one big party due to their close proximity on the calendar. Even though all employees say they hate the awkward celebrations and tell Jim (albeit with mixed signals) that they'd be onboard for the joint birthday party, they immediately turn on him when the party lacks individual significance. And sometimes they're just being unrealistically petulant, as when Dwight schemes to make Jim (then co-manager) create an Employee of the Month incentive, then tricks Jim into giving himself the award, complete with a self-aggrandizing cake. And without giving it a second thought, everyone starts throwing verbal haymakers Jim's way. They actually believe Jim Halpert, who they've known for years, would be so egotistical as to do something like that. This all only makes sense if there's some deleted footage in which Jim Halpert walks up to each person in the office and slaps them in the face.
