10 Unlikely Characters Who'd Be Perfect For Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

2. Krall

As far as villains go, Star Trek Beyond's Krall was top notch and Idris Elba gave a really good performance. Frankly, any chance to bring back Elba ought to be investigated and (spoilers for Star Trek Beyond) even though his character died at the end of the film, there are still many story possibilities yet to be explored.

This is one Kelvin timeline character who most definitely also exists largely unchanged in the prime timeline. However, Krall prime's fate is a complete mystery. The idea that he too might have encountered a version of the Enterprise is worthy of consideration.

Krall began as former MACO and Starfleet Captain, Balthazar Edison. Way back in 2164 his ship, the USS Franklin went through a wormhole and crash landed in the farthest reaches of unexplored space. He blamed The Federation for not rescuing him and used alien technology to both prolong his life and become a dangerous warlord. All of these events took place prior to Nero's destruction of the USS Kelvin, so they are canon to both realities.

In the time of Star Trek Strange New Worlds he is presumably still out there and he is still an extreme threat to The Federation. With a different captain and a whole new set of circumstances events wouldn't play out the way they did in the film but would be no less dramatic.

The dynamic between Pike and Krall would be worth exploring and it's likely each man could advance the other's character.
