7. Powers
And now for something completely different. Nominally published by Marvel under their Icon imprint, Powers is a creator-owned series, meaning that writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Avon Oeming call all the shots. Which means it was their choice to bring their series about cops who police superheroes to Playstation, as the game company's first piece of original programming. Powers was previously set up at FX, with Jason Patric in the starring role as former hero, now homicide detective Christian Walker, and Lucy Punch in line to play his foul-mouthed partner Deanna Pilgrim. Things have changed significantly since then, with Sony moving away from the source material with the casting. Walker is now played by District 9's Sharlto Copley, Deanna's shoes are filled by Susan Heyward, comedian Eddie Izzard has a part as a superpowered murderer, and the first case looks to be an adaptation of the comic's Who Killed Retro Girl? storyline, with The Killing's Michelle Forbes as the victim.
The trailer looks...okay? Hits the Playstation Network March 10th.
