So basically all of these episodes are way too scary to be allowed, and everyone might have a different "scariest" episode, depending on what kind of stuff triggered you when you were a kid.

But one of the all-time most upsetting episodes has to be The Tale of Apartment 214. In it, a young girl moves into a new apartment complex and is quite lonely, so she befriends the kindly old lady who lives down the hall from her.

This is Are You Afraid of the Dark, so it kind of goes without saying that this woman has been DEAD THE WHOLE TIME. But things really come to a head when the girl makes a promise to visit the old lady, but then makes last minute plans with another girl her own age and ends up ghosting (pun absolutely intended) her geriatric friend.

Well, it turns out that the woman wanted to spend time with her on that specific day because it was the anniversary of the day she died and she didn't like to be alone, so when the girl breaks her promise, she goes into some serious next level haunting.

It is terrifying. And it's the double whammy because the ghost is probably one of the creepiest ever, but it also brings up uncomfortable feelings about loneliness and breaking promises and, of course, death and the afterlife. You're so scared of the old lady but you also feel so sad for her. Complicated emotions, man.
