10 US Adaptations Of UK TV Shows That Sucked
3. Little Britain
Little Britain has not aged well at all. Much like the recently chastised Come Fly With Me, the show relied heavily on mocking stereotypes and while it fared well at the time, watching it back now is a bit of an uncomfortable affair.
The show came a long way from its roots on the radio, pulling in respectable ratings and very quickly infiltrating British culture. It's over the top characters such as Vicky and Andy being quoted to death for years after its initial airing. However, as the series went on, it quickly lost its charm as a cultural shift brought massive criticism of the show's writing.
As far as the American adaptation, well, there was really only one way for this to play out. The original series had played itself out after season three, but creators Matt Lucas and David Walliams wanted to try and breathe new life into the show by taking its characters to America.
Its season premiere was a complete bomb, barely scraping half a million viewers in the US. Unsurprisingly, HBO didn't pick up a second season after critics brutally panned the show.
