10 Vikings Fates Worse Than Death

1. Being “Boneless”

When you're living as a Viking, you have almost every adversity coming your way. You have to strive off enemies, survive long wars, avoid infections, fend against famine, the weather itself and tonnes more. Overall, you need every advantage you can get your hands on, so being born without the ability to walk is close to being a death sentence.

Ivar "The Boneless" seemed to understand that, as the struggle of his life and knowledge that death was a better option is a major theme of the show. Hell, he even left his deformed baby to die because he knew they would be better off dead than living life as "a cripple."

This Ragnarsson wanted to strive out and live up to his father's name, but never could. He watched from the side lines as his brothers became strong heroes, but the limitations of his body wouldn't let him catch up, leading him down a path of darkness and fear.

It's true that in the modern-day, Ivar would have fared better, but he lived in an age where children like him were left to rot.
