10 Walking Dead Moments That Made You Scared To Be Human
7. Governor Beheads Hershel
Towards the end of season 4, that whole tank thing happened. We were awestruck how quickly the Governor gathered people around him and rallied them to his cause. After spending some time with him we were left with a very definite preference to Rick. When he lays siege to the prison and calls out Rick it was inevitably going to go wrong. Given all that time following the Governor, we pretty much knew what was going to happen to Hershel as soon as we saw his predicament. It is unclear if he did but he was proud of Rick for trying to make peace and heal old wounds. This warm, knowing and hopeful look contrasting with the Governors spiteful cycloptic stare was enough to make viewers truly despair at the hopelessness of it all. Viewers were let down and ashamed to be human. This is buttoned nicely when later in the episode; another entry on this list makes an unexpected appearance. It illustrates Ricks kindness, how dangerous that could be and also how vital it is. This is the moment when dead fans wept for the helpless brutality of humankind. Or shouted yay, tank!
Eddie is a writer, cinephile, TV fan and wrestling abuse victim from Newcastle. After receiving his film degree in London he returned home to lift boxes in the vein of an 80s montage... It's not as fun as it looks in the films.
