10 Wasted Simpsons Characters That Deserved Better
2. Doctor Colossus
Bart and Milhouse love comic books, and once almost killed each other along with Martin Prince over the occupancy of Radioactive Man #1. Comic Book Guy himself would tell you that Rainier Wolfcastle's superhero is Springfield's most popular comic book character, but there is an actual super villain living somewhere in the vicinity of the town.
In 'Who Shot Mr. Burns? Part II', Smithers told the police that they had the wrong man. Without so much as a question, Chief Wiggum released the turquoise skinned Doctor Colossus back into civilisation, under the condition that he stay away from Death Mountain.
Surely there would be some wonderful stories The Simpsons could tell surrounding an actual super villain with an actual evil lair? There are other weird and wonderful characters like Bumblebee Man, Duffman, and Sideshow Mel in the town, so why not keep the mad scientist around too? Instead, this was the character's only real appearance.
He was mentioned as the original Malibu Stacey's girlfriend in 'Lisa Vs. Malibu Stacey', and has appeared in the background of a handful of other episodes, but never has there been a story revolving around him or his backstory. Not even in the Treehouse of Horror. This could have been so much fun, and should definitely be considered a missed opportunity.
