10 Ways Game Of Thrones Has Been "Ruined" Before The Finale
2. Plot Armour
This is a problem that all shows suffer from and one that's hard to really fault the show for yet the problem of plot armour is more prevalent than ever in this final season. When faced with incredible danger, only those that serve the plot seem to survive and anyone deemed irrelevant is sacrificed to the action.
In the battle of Winterfell, experienced combat veterans like the Dothraki and Jorah Mormont are cut down easily while Samwell Tarley is able to survive the hordes of White Walkers. Then, in the penultimate episode, Arya seems to be as immune to the fire as her Targaryen cousin as all those around her are burned to a crisp. The white horse carrying her out of the city was the icing on the convenience cake.
Killing off Arya unceremoniously in the battle would certainly have been an underwhelming way to end her tenure on the show, but the sheer amount of danger the writers throw these characters in with no repercussions reduces the impact of their survival.
