4. Someone Will Sit On The Iron Throne As Westeros Burns Around Them
Summary: Some fans believe that the bittersweet ending will see one main character eventually sitting on the Iron Throne, but ruling over a realm devastated by war and worse. Reasoning: The most likely candidate for this seems to be Daenerys. Her dragons ought to be more than capable of defeating Westerosi forces that have already been ravaged by civil war, but they're equally capable of incredible levels of collateral damage. This theory is further given credence by the fact that there are tons and tons of near-forgotten wildfire still sitting under King's Landing. We've seen the destruction just a few batches of the stuff can cause at the Battle of the Blackwater. Tunnels filled with wildfire would likely be more than enough to destroy the city, particularly when you factor in that Daenerys (and almost every other POV character) is totally unaware of its existence. Likelihood: This one doesn't seem completely unlikely, but it's also based purely on circumstantial plot points and speculation. The wildfire under the city must surely have a future role to play though.
