10 Ways Game Of Thrones Might Actually End

3. The Others Join Forces With The Westerosi

Summary: The Others will end up teaming up with Westerosi forces to combat a greater threat from the South. Reasoning: A theory that's growing in popularity is that the Others aren't actually a malevolent evil. Despite being a fan of Tolkien's series, George R. R. Martin has expressed his distaste for certain aspects of the Lord of the Rings series, chiefly the idea of an overtly evil horde. Because of this, it seems strange that there's this constant threat of the mysterious Others, who so far appear to be little different thematically from the evil hordes of Mordor. Nothing is so morally two-dimensional in Westeros, and many believe that the Others are either misunderstood or have a justified reason for whatever it is they're doing. There is a theory that R'hllor, the god of the red priestess Melisandre, is the true threat to Westeros. The Others are actually rallying forces and adding to their numbers for the greater good, in order to help defeat this terrible threat. The end of the series will depict this clash of Ice versus Fire. Likelihood: Especially considering the new stuff we saw in the latest season of Game of Thrones, the Others are certainly starting to become more three-dimensional. There's a lot more to them than what we know so far, and the idea of this all-out villainous host coming to sack Westeros just doesn't seem in-keeping with what we've seen so far in the series. Therefore, it's highly likely that the Others will be later presented as more sympathetic characters, although it's difficult to picture them actively working with many of the great houses of Westeros.
