10 Weirdest Storylines In The Whedonverse

6. Vamp Willow Meets Human Willow - Buffy The Vampire Slayer, "Doppelgangland"

One of the best-loved episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the show's seven-season run, "Doppelgangland" is also one of it's strangest, if you hadn't already guessed that from the title. Calling back to an earlier episode in the third season, "The Wish", in which vengeance demon Anya creates an alternate Sunnydale where Buffy never came to the town, this episode sees Anya casting another spell that goes awry and summons a character from that parallel universe to this one. That character, ladies and gentlemen, is Vamp Willow, and she's exactly as awesome as she sounds. Written and directed by Joss himself simply because he loved her character from "The Wish" so much that he created an entire new episode for her, "Doppelgangland" features confusion aplenty from the Scooby Gang - first as to why Willow has gone all gothy and vampiric, and second as to why there are two of them at all. The two Willows inevitably meet and hilarious exchanges follow, not to mention real Willow's observation that her other self is "kinda gay", which is foreshadowing of the most wonderful degree. More shows should include vampire versions of the lead characters meeting the regular human types, in our opinion.
