10 Worst Breaking Bad Episodes

1. Fly

Breaking Bad
AMC

Without a doubt the most divisive episode in the entire history of Breaking Bad, Fly is the tenth episode of the show's third season, written by Sam Catlin and Moira Walley-Beckett, and directed by Rian Johnson.

The episode revolves around Walt discovering a fly in his and Jesse's laboratory, and the pair's subsequent attempts to kill the insect before it is able to contaminate their product.

This episode has a lot of fans, who will defend it to high heaven and herald it as an absolute masterclass in direction, cinematography and developing the relationship between Jesse and Walt. However, it's also extremely disliked by certain fans due to its lack of action, the near-total absence of any characters other than the show's main duo, and taking the badass Heisenberg and turning him into a slapstick character.

Make no mistake, this is not a mid-season filler episode the writers threw in because they had no other material to hand; part of the reason why Breaking Bad is so good is because of the willingness Vince Gilligan and co. had for trying out new experiments episode-by-episode. However, with Fly, they were perhaps reaching a little too far and the episode is one some fans happily skip over in their rewatches.
