10 Worst Doctor Who Prosthetics Ever
1. Frog!? - It Takes You Away (2018)
I’m still trying to figure this one out.
At the end of the 13th Doctor episode It Takes You Away, a sentient universe was seeking companions and wanted anyone and everyone to stay with it. When the Doctor has got everyone out and back to their proper world, the sentient universe takes the form… of a frog… with the voice of the deceased Grace, companion Ryan’s mum and Graham’s wife.
Not only is this completely out of nowhere, after quite a serious episode in which a father contemplates leaving his blind daughter forever so he can be with his wife in another universe, but the frog puppet looks appalling. The mouth movements don’t even slightly match the sound coming out and the movement is so off putting you immediately start looking for the strings controlling it.
This abysmal ending completely takes you out of what had been quite a hard-hitting story and was shaping up to be one of the better episodes of the series, but then some of the worst prosthetics in the show’s history put an end to that.
