The queen of abysmal decision making, Lori's habit of angrily lashing out at anyone who dares question her stupidity only added fuel to the unlikable fire. In a scary, post apocalyptic world of the undead, Lori's behaviour is more akin to something out of Gilmore Girls than the evil setting she finds herself in.

Some of the fan hatred towards Lori is a tad unfair all the same. It is important to note that Lori believed Rick was dead when she shacked up with Shane in Season 1 (though it didn't take her very long to move on from her presumed dead hubby either).

Her death scene is also an impactful moment in the series (and not nearly as horrific as falling directly onto her now squashed baby like in the comics) that added a great deal of drama to the show at the time.

While Lori was important to the series, she was not missed post mortem and frustrated fans and critics alike throughout her tenure on the show. A good example of writers forgetting to flesh out an individual's likeable traits, we're left with a self absorbed mess of a character.
