10 Worst South Park Episodes

5. White People Renovating Houses

South Park is a highly satirical show that strives to leave no stone unturned for sources of comedy. It parodies so many areas of life, and as such, has a lot to say. While subjects like PC culture, George Zimmerman and Black Lives Matter are fully provocative in the series, its response to the Charlottesville Unite the Right rally ended up feeling utterly bland and out of character.

The episode deals with many working parts, as it juggles a narrative about voice-commanded smart speakers, the tumultuous relationship between Cartman and Heidi, a parody on house renovation shows and an attack on the right-wing redneck stereotype. Ultimately it falls flat under this ambition, as the episode is all over the place with its message and lacks any decent laughs.

It's also particularly disappointing thanks to the fact that the Unite the Right rally it attempts to satirise escapes the episode relatively easily, with no real message about it either way. For a show so deliberately offensive and bitter, this feels very unfair and somewhat lacklustre.
