10 Worst Star Trek Moments In 2024
4. Una All Over Again
*Warning! Spoiler alert for this and the next entry*
Paramount has a curious history of releasing clips for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds which tell us more than we really should, or should want, to know. The official trailer for season two showed Una in uniform on the bridge and on Krulmuth-B, that is to say, not in prison. The first look clip for season three featured a healthy, happy (ish) La'an, that is to say, not gorged on by Gorn.
Naturally, there's a lot of pressure to keep fans interested. The wait between seasons has also been longer than normal this time. However, and not to phaser ourselves in the foot, or look a gift replicator in the gel pack, are we so avid for content that we have to have the plot plundered in advance? Is patience just a virtue to be scrolled through?
In its haste, Paramount then re-offended at New York Comic Con. The second season of Strange New Worlds had ended on a cliffhanger, the apparent indecision of Captain Pike faced with a Cornelian dilemma. Should he stay to rescue his crew, or follow orders and go?
In the NYCC exclusive clip, we found out what Pike did immediately next after the end of Hegemony. It didn't give the whole Gorn game away, and it was certainly thrilling. Just now, like a Gorn hatching from its parasitic egg, the tension has been broken from the start.
