While Neil Gaiman's second go at writing an episode of Doctor Who wasn't as acclaimed (Dear Lord those two kids dragged the episode down) as his classic "The Doctor's Wife", there were still a lot of fun moments in Gaiman's penned Series 7 episode "Nightmare In Silver", namely Matt Smith's 11th Doctor's mental battle with the dark reflection that was the Cyber Controller. To put some context to the situation, the 11th Doctor has been infected with Cyber nanites that attempt to overrun his mind with Cybermen head honcho, the Cyber Controller who adopts the 11th Doctor's personality. Matt Smith hamming it up shows he is clearly having the time of his life and so are we as we watched him prance around and switch between the usual goofy 11th Doctor and the Cyber Controller's dark take on the 11th's giddy personality. Matt Smith has always been a very enthusiastic actor especially in his portrayal of the Doctor. Watching Matt Smith take that same energy he uses for the heroic 11th Doctor and portray it sinisterly with the Cyber Controller is a great tour de force for Matt Smith's acting. The mental battle of domination between the good Doctor and the evil Cyber Controller makes for a great conflict and with Gaiman's lemony dialogue peppering the words of both 11th Doctors, it makes for excellent fun and a reminder of what makes the 11th Doctor so enjoyable.
