5. Kosh Naranek (Babylon 5)

A slightly left-field option compared to the other characters on the list. And one you may be confused of at first. Surely Kosh was in nearly every episode of the first three seasons of
Babylon 5? In actual fact, what the population of Babylon 5 saw week on week was an encounter suit, housing the mysterious force inside that was the true Vorlon. The reason behind this (besides making Kosh wonderfully enigmatic) was to hide his nature from the recurring threat that was the Shadows. So who were the Vorlons really? They could have been angels? That's how everyone viewed Kosh when he burst from his encounter suit to save Sheridan's life in the season two finale 'The Fall Of Night'. We also
may have seen the true Kosh when he battled the Dark Kosh in season four's 'Falling Towards Apotheosis'. But the truth is, we never really got a definite answer on what Kosh looked like under his suit. Only his aide Lyta knew the truth of the Vorlon race before they left with the Shadows at the end of the great Shadow War. The only thing we reallt had, like many great 'unseen' TV characters was his voice, and for a kind of extra terrestial shower curtain, he certainly made his presence known. Whether it was deciding Earth and the League of Non Aligned Worlds were not ready for immortality in 'Deathwalker', or his many droll responses to Captain Sheridan, there was a dark wit and superiority in Kosh that put him up there with the other great non-human characters like Lennier, Vir, Londo or G'Kar.
