11 Times Doctor Who Stupidly Spoiled Its Own Secrets

11. The Doctor Dying In The Series 6 Premiere... Ruined By The BBC Announcing It Earlier That Same Day

The Secret: Each opening adventure is guaranteed to be bigger and better than the one before and the ever scheming Steven Moffat ensured that Doctor Who returned to our screens with an almighty bang in 2011 when Matt Smith's incarnation of the titular Time Lord was shot dead - like, properly dead - within the first 10 minutes of the series premiere. Blimey, Charlie. How It Was Spoiled: Well, the BBC literally confirmed that it was going to happen a few hours before the episode aired. Not only that but they also released actual pictures of the scene in question, for apparently no justifiable reason whatsoever, just in case viewers hadn't cottoned on to the fact that one of the show's main characters was going to be killed off by the preceding 'Who will die?' marketing campaign. The death of the Doctor was shocking, sure, but just think how shocking it would've been if none of us had actually known it was coming. "Spoilers, sweetie!" indeed.
