11 Times Doctor Who Stupidly Spoiled Its Own Secrets
8. Series 8 Scripts Were Leaked Online... Totally Ruining The 12th Doctor's First 5 Episodes
The Secret: A new Doctor always finds himself under an intense level of public scrutiny and this was no different for Peter Capaldi who was announced as the twelfth incarnation of TV's favourite Time Lord back in 2013. Filming on his first string of adventures began in earnest the following January and the BBC were keeping things tightly close to their chest with the promise that the show would come back bigger and better than ever before with Peter heralding the franchise into a shining new era... How It Was Spoiled: And then this thing happened. Well, five things, to be more precise, as the full scripts for the first half of the Twelfth Doctor's debut series randomly appeared online after a security lapse made the documents publicly available via the BBC's Latin America headquarters in Miami. The BBC appealed for fans not to read them, of course, but there's not much you can do as soon as something has succumbed to the darkest realms of the Internet. The official Doctor Who website even tried to bribe fans by releasing a new clip from the upcoming series as a thank you for resisting the temptation. Desperate times, and all that.
