11 Wild Theories About Doctor Who Series 8

9. There Will Be A Battle For The Damaged Dalek €“ Episode 2

Going by the clips on the BBC News website (which feature a character nicknamed Gun-Girl by the Doctor), Episode 2 will be set in the middle of a human-Dalek war. In the middle of a war, a Dalek that has switched sides would be an invaluable asset to one faction and a serious liability to the other. Which is why it's likely that both factions will go to great lengths to acquire and keep hold of it, potentially driving a subplot of the episode while the main plot of the Doctor interacting with the Dalek progresses. The humans would want to keep hold of the Dalek for analysis and interrogation while the functioning Daleks would want to destroy it as an abomination and to stop it being a security risk. And while the Daleks and the humans are busy blasting each other to bits in a costly battle for the damaged Dalek, the Doctor could do his utmost to help the Dalek and stabilise its personality. All while it struggles between its good and evil sides as implied by the €œI see into your soul€ teaser. While the Jekyll and Hyde Dalek will be at the forefront of the episode, a human-Dalek war is a pretty major event and it seems unlikely that the Doctor or Clara would engage in a dogfight against the Dalek ship like we see in the trailer. So the episode looks to be a mix of psychological exploration and all-out war. From the information the BBC has released at least.
