12 Critically Reviled Sci-Fi TV Shows (That Weren't Actually That Bad)

Treading a lighter path than its bigger-budget inspiration, the AMC behemoth The Walking Dead, Z Nation was a scrappy, funnier, and quicker David to the dark, self-serious Goliath of that megahit.

This zombie-hunting adventure followed a rotating cast of survivors through a post-apocalyptic wasteland, treating the material with more reverence than say, the abortive attempt at a Zombieland TV series, but less brutally bleak than its more famous competitor, the Robert Kirkman comic book adaptation.

Despite garnering a sizeable fanbase and surviving for a respectable five seasons, the show never gained the critical love enjoyed by The Walking Dead, with DJ Qualls’ central character Citizen Z in particular being singled out for hate. However, if you can ignore the naysayers and join the show’s legion of loyal fans, there’s a fun, engaging, and often exciting time to be had in this underrated apocalypse.
