12 Hit US TV Shows You Never Knew Doctor Who Actors Were In
10. The Carrie Diaries
The world was Freema Agyeman's oyster when she decided to bid the world of Doctor Who adieu back in 2007 (only to come back a year later and star in its spin off Torchwood) and, on paper, her leading role in the highly publicised Sex and the City prequel really should've been her big post-Who break. The Martha Jones actress was cast as Larissa Loughlin, a hip, British, cutting edge style editor, in HBO's teen drama which was set in 1984 and detailed the trials and tribulations of Carrie Bradshaw's junior year of high school. Hopes were high for the show owing to the success of its critically and fan lauded parent series (Sex and the City, which ended in 2004, was cited by Time magazine as one of the best TV shows of all... time, geddit?) and, to all intents and purposes, things started off really well. It all fell rather flat in the ratings department, though, to the point where it was axed by the network after just two 13-part seasons. You win some, you lose some. At least Freema got to wear some funky jackets.
